Automatic street light using LDR

The Automatic Street Light using LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) is a smart and energy-saving system that automatically turns street lights ON at night and OFF during the day. The project uses an LDR sensor to detect the surrounding light intensity.

When daylight decreases (evening or cloudy weather), the resistance of the LDR increases, which signals the Arduino / transistor circuit to switch ON the street light. Similarly, when sunlight is detected (morning), the resistance drops and the system switches the light OFF.

This project is widely used for energy conservation, road safety, and automation of public lighting systems.

Parts Used:
  1. LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) – Detects light intensity.
  2. Arduino / Transistor Circuit – Control system.
  3. Relay Module – Acts as a switch for street light.
  4. LED / CFL / Street Lamp – Load device.
  5. Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Transistors – For circuit operation.
  6. Power Supply (12V/230V depending on light source) – To run the circuit.
  7. Connecting Wires & PCB/Enclosure – For safe assembly.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Advantages:
  1. Energy Saving – Lights only operate when required.
  2. Low Maintenance – No manual operation needed.
  3. Cost-Effective – Simple design with low investment.
  4. Improved Safety – Roads and public areas are well-lit at night.
  5. Scalable – Can be implemented in cities, highways, parking areas, and campuses.
