Arduino Based Ultrasonic Distance Meter

A simple, accurate rangefinder that measures distance using an ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino. The Arduino sends a short trigger pulse; the sensor emits an ultrasonic burst and returns an echo time from the target. The code converts this time to distance (cm/inch) and shows it on a display or Serial Monitor. Ideal for labs, robotics (obstacle detection), and DIY level/height gauges.

Parts Used:
  1. Arduino Uno/Nano – controller and timing
  2. Ultrasonic Sensor: HC-SR04 (indoor) or JSN-SR04T (water-resistant)
  3. Display (Optional): 16×2 LCD (I²C) or 0.96″ OLED
  4. Buzzer/LED (Optional): Near-distance alert or threshold indicator
  5. Power: 5 V USB adapter/power bank
  6. Wiring & Mounts: Jumper wires, sensor bracket/enclosure

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Advantages:
  1. Non-contact & Safe: No physical touch with the target
  2. Accurate & Fast: Typical ±3 mm (sensor-dependent) with rapid updates
  3. Low Cost & DIY-Friendly: Common modules and short code
  4. Versatile Output: Serial, LCD/OLED, or buzzer alerts
  5. Expandable: Temperature compensation, filtering, logging, Bluetooth/IoT
