Speed control of DC motor using PWM

The Speed Control of DC Motor using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) project is designed to regulate the speed of a DC motor efficiently without wasting power. Instead of using resistors or mechanical methods, this system varies the duty cycle of PWM signals from a microcontroller to control motor speed.

This method is widely used in fans, robotics, conveyors, and electric vehicles, as it provides smooth, efficient, and precise speed control.

Parts Used:
  1. DC Motor (12V/24V) – Load to be controlled
  2. Arduino / PIC / STM32 / 8051 – Generates PWM signals
  3. Motor Driver (L293D / L298N / MOSFETs) – Interfaces motor with controller
  4. Potentiometer / Keypad / Sensors – For user input speed control
  5. LCD Display (optional) – Shows motor speed (RPM/percentage)
  6. Power Supply (Battery/Adapter) – Provides power for motor & controller
  7. Tachometer Sensor (IR/Encoder, optional) – Feedback for closed-loop control
