Steering-Controlled Headlight Mechanism

The Steering-Controlled Headlight Mechanism is an advanced vehicle lighting system where the headlight beam automatically turns in the direction of steering. This improves night driving safety by illuminating curves and corners, allowing the driver to see obstacles earlier and react faster.

By coupling a steering angle sensor with a servo motor mechanism, the headlight is mounted on a pivot that adjusts its angle based on the handlebar or steering wheel position. This technology is especially useful for motorcycles, scooters, and small vehicles traveling on winding roads.

Parts Used:
  1. Headlight Unit (LED/Projector) – main lighting source
  2. Pivot or Swivel Mount – allows angular movement of the headlight
  3. Steering Angle Sensor (Potentiometer / Rotary Encoder / Hall Sensor) – detects steering position
  4. Microcontroller (Arduino / ESP32) – processes sensor input and controls motor
  5. Servo Motor / Stepper Motor – adjusts headlight angle
  6. Motor Driver Module – drives the servo/stepper
  7. Power Supply – 12V DC (with voltage regulator for electronics)
  8. Wiring & Connectors – electrical connections
  9. Mechanical Linkages / Brackets – to mount and align the headlight

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Advantages:
  1. Better Cornering Visibility – lights up the curve before vehicle entry
  2. Increased Safety – quicker hazard detection in low-light turns
  3. Comfortable Night Driving – reduces strain on driver’s eyes
  4. Retrofit Capability – can be added to existing motorcycles and small vehicles
  5. Energy Efficient – uses existing light, only adds control mechanism
